Rush County Genealogical Society Meeting Minutes
November 13, 2021

The November 13, 2021 Meeting of the Rush County Genealogical Society met via a Zoom Meeting and was called to order by Vice President Bill Baetz.  He turned the meeting over to Katrina Cooper to lead so that he could monitor the Zoom Meeting.   Katrina gave a big thank you to Carol Jones for her long tenure as president and membership of our organization.  Randi James gave the Treasurer’s Report and reported a balance of $5,636.44 with an outstanding check that was received from United Way for $95.00.  Fifteen people attended the meeting.
It is time for Membership Renewal - $15.00 per year.   You can find the Membership application on our website at www,rcgsociety.org.   We need your support to continue.
Katrina advised that the Rush County Health Department has asked for our assistance in creating a database for births and deaths.  They are purchasing the WIN Records database from Mark Christy and will need help with the input sometime after the first of the year.   Julia Apple from the Health Department has stated she will ask the board about us coming in during courthouse hours to do the input across the hall from the Health Department.  She will need to schedule the times for this.   Several members showed interest in helping with this project.  Katrina will contact Julia to find out more details.
Katrina reported that she had attended the Rush County Bicentennial Planning Meeting on November 3rd.  Several organizations are selling books for the event.  We could print more of ours to sell.   Carol Jones has furnished the Marriage books; however, Katrina still does not have the Civil War book to be able to reprint.   Randi James has the Spiral Punch machine.  Katrina also discussed with the Historical Society about their Walking Tour Pamphlets and our Historical Home Tour Books?   We could possibly put together one Tour Book using the best of all the homes we have researched.  They will be making Bicentennial T-shirts.  Katrina will check if they will have sponsors on the back of the shirt or if there would be something else we could sponsor to get our organization’s name out there.
The next item of business was to vote on the following slate of officers:   Katrina Cooper: President, Bill Baetz: Vice President, Secretary: Jane Howard, Treasurer:  Randi James.   Bill Baetz put out a poll and the slate of officers was approved.
Bill Baetz introduced Denise Anderson- Decina from the Central Indiana DNA Interest Group who gave a great presentation on DNA test results, ethnicity reporting, building trees, and digging deeper into DNA matches.  Following the program, there were many good questions raised which Denise answered and gave suggestions for next steps.

Respectfully submitted,
Katrina Cole Cooper, Secretary
Rush County Genealogical Society
